Restoration of 4 existing Victorian wings to reinstate the original ‘H’ shaped layout – the southeast wing was converted into a visitors reception, café and toilet amenity, the roof was thatched with Norfolk water reed, the eaves, packed with clay pargetting internal timbers in chestnut were left exposed. A new chalk floor was laid to the main barn and clay pan tile flooring to the southeast wing.
The building created a training facility for traditional skills, sponsored by the heritage lottery fund – attended by schools and colleges to enable students to experience traditional skills.
